The Reserve

Mark and Wendy Rutherfoord founded Gondwana Game Reserve which made Mark's childhood dream of owning a game reserve a reality. The private game reserve offers a distinctive and luxurious malaria-free Safari Holiday destination and it's the first authentic free-roaming Reserve in the Western Cape, situated on 11 000 hectare of fynbos and proteas located in the Garden Route, 15km west of Mossel Bay.

The Big 5 Game

Apart from the big 5 Safari Animals (lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino, and leopard), Herds of wildlife including eland, giraffe, hippo, cheetah and zebra can be seen on the majestic landscape with awe-inspiring views of the Langeberg and Outeniqua Mountains in every direction.

Gondwana Game Reserve offers luxury accommodation in Kwena Lodge, where 14 open-plan suites are nestled into the breathtaking natural surroundings with 180-degree views, sky lights for star gazing, fireplaces and deep baths in which to relax upon returning from an evening game drive.

Family or group accommodation for Safari Holidays is provided in 12 spacious and luxurious bush villas (3- and 4-bedroom configurations), which are privately situated, each with spectacular, uninterrupted views from their expansive wooden decks.
