Samsung QLED TV: That Disappears into Your Wall

Samsung QLED TV: That Disappears into Your Wall

Samsung just unveiled its lineup of televisions for 2018, at an event in New York on March 7, with new Ultra HD, Premium Ultra HD, and Ultra-Large Screen models joining the rotation. In addition to a bunch of new A/V features that create sharper color and immersive sound, the biggest update is how Samsung's TVs will interact with your home.

With "Ambient Mode," the screen mimics the pattern of the wall behind it, nearly vanishing save for the outer frame of the actual television. The owner simply takes a photo of the wall behind it, set it as background; the TV does the rest, turning itself into a 4K chameleon.

Samsung also announced that it’s in partnership with The Weather Channel, The New York Times, and others to overlay content on the ambient TVs. Users will be able to add clocks, headlines, local weather, and their own photos to the ambient screens, which they can queue up from the TV’s menu or the Samsung SmartThings app, which they can also use to quickly set up the televisions.

Pricing Starts at $2,599,
