Suits That Caught Our Attention at the 2019 Oscars Red Carpet
T he days when every woman is expected to wear a gown and every man a tuxedo on the red carpet is long gone. Regardless of gender, the looks at the 2019 Academy Awards and other shows this year prove more celebrities than ever are choosing suits as their go-to black-tie wear. We try to pick out some of the best out on the red carpet at the 2019 Academy Awards. See bellow:
On the Oscars 2019 red carpet, comedian, writer, producer, director, and all-around amazing human being Amy Poehler wore a chic black suit with a ruffled shirt, pairing it with an easygoing hairstyle and simple makeup.
On the Oscars 2019 red carpet, If Beale Street Could Talk actor Stephan James rocked a beautiful velvet suit from Etro, white Giuseppe Zanotti boots, and a Swarovski earring as a pendant on the lapel — a creative accessorizing idea for those of us who love a bit of sparkle, but don't actually feel like wearing earrings. At just 15 years old, Elsie Fisher is already acing the red carpet in a unique way. And to complement her chic black suit for the Oscars — which, like Stephan James's, was made from a luxurious velvet — the Eighth Grade actress wore her first set of false lashes, according to makeup artist Kristin Hilton. “Elsie is wearing a Thom Browne suit and stick-straight hair, so we wanted a graphic eye look with similarly clean lines,” explains Hilton, who used Lashify products (a brand Allure editors are already quite fond of thanks to its your-lashes-but-better results) to achieve the look.
Of all the suits on the Oscars red carpet, it is the shimmering pink ensemble worn by Awkwafina that was the most unforgettable. To prep her skin for this gorgeous, glowing look, makeup artist Mai Quynh used two face masks from Kiehl's — the Buttermask for her lips and the Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask on the rest of her face — plus the brand's Ultra Facial Cream (which was reformulated sans parabens late last year). For her makeup, Quynh used Giorgio Armani's famous Luminous Silk Foundation in the shade 5.75, which gave her complexion its Oscar-worthy radiance.
Chris Evans For Oscars 2019, Captain America himself had one of the most subtle jackets of the evening — and that's really saying something about the growing range of suits, considering a deep aqua like this would've been viewed as a risk just five years ago.
